Fun Times

Our neighbor tied a sled to the back of his lawn mower and was pulling the kids around. So much fun!!!

Riding the Bus

Not only was Hannah excited to start school but she also couldn't wait to ride the bus. I had to take her for the first three days of school until they got everything worked out. So on her fourth day of school she got to ride the bus, and as for me three days of driving her was enough and I was ready to put her on the bus. Although I did worry a little the first time that she would make it to class, but I guess it is all about letting go. She did fine!!!

Kindergarten

Hannah started kindergarten on Aug. 24, 2009 at Discovery Elementary. Her teacher's name is Mrs. Davenport.

"Everything I need to know, I will learn in Kindergarten."

"I'm so glad as I can be

to have you spend the year with me.

I'll help you learn the alphatbet

and give you a hug when your upset.

You'll zip your coat and tie your shoe

and maybe meet a friend of two.

When the year is through adn we must part

Hannah was lucky in that she probably knew 90% of her classmates, which made the excitment of school even greater.

Hannah was so excited to start school she called both of her grandparents the night before and told them all about her backpack and how many pockets it had and what color it was she was so funny to listen to. She also told me that she didn't think she would be able to sleep that night because she was so excited to start school. We (I mean Me) tried our hardest to be excited for her, but when she wasn't looking there were some tears shed.

THE FIRST DAY

I gave you a little wink and smile

As you entered my room today.

For I know how hard it is to leave

And know your children must stay.

You've been with them for five years now

And have been a loving guide,

But now, alas, the time has come

To leave them at my side.

Just know that as you drive away

And tears down your cheeks may flow

I'll love them as I would my own

And help them learn and grow.

For as a parent, I too know

How quickely the years do pass

And that one day soon it will be my turn

To take my child to class.

So please put your mind at ease

And cry those tears no more

For I will love them and take them in

I am so excited for Hannah to have such a great year and I know she is excited to learn and grow to.

Cabin

The weather wasn't very cooperative while we were at the cabin...it was cold most of the time, but we still managed to have fun. The first day we spend picking berries and came back with a ton - and lots of war wounds to prove it. The second day Lance and Ruth were there and we decided to brave the clouds and go kayaking anyway...the girls insisted on wearing their swim suits even though it was cold. Ruth the girls and I manned the two person and had lots of fun, Von took the one person and towed Christie behind on the tube. We had a blast!!! Cory and Lance stayed behind and went scuba diving and caught lots a craw dads that we cooked up for dinner. (no pictures of the scuba divers :( !!)Addy showing off her dinner!!The last day we spent there the sun finally decided to come out...after lots of prayers for just one nice day. Lance, Ruth, Cory and I decided to go kayaking down the river and we had lots of fun...except for the first rapid where we went side ways and ended up in the FREEZING water. Thanks Von and Karen for watching our kids.

Uncle Lance took the girls swimming down the rapids and they thought that was super fun!Garrett and Ruth hanging out on the beach. Somehow Ruth always ended up being the "Life Guard" on duty. Thanks for your willingness to help watch kids.
Trying to get warm, even though it was sunny it wasn't super warm and so after being in the water the girls would get really cold.

We love our time at the cabin and are so lucky to have such a great place to go and enjoy being together. It was so great that Lance and Ruth got to come out at the same time as us, and also that the Marchant's were able to come up for a couple of days too. It was a bit crazy at times with so many people but we sure had fun.

Sweet Creek Falls

We met up with Uncle Curt and went on the most beautiful hike one of the days we were in Oregon. There were so many good picture spots and water falls. The girls had a blast although they kept tripping over the roots and rocks. By the end of the hike Cory ended up dragging Addy and Grandpa told Hannah that she had used up all of her falls for the day and wasn't aloud to fall again. It was so nice to enjoy being outdoors and it was actually sunny and pretty warm (one of the few we enjoyed while in Oregon).

Boating and Fishing

Cory and Von took the girls on a little boating and fishing trip one of the days we were in Newport. They were so cute with their life jackets on and helping load up to go.

Oregon Coast - Day 1

While mom and dad recovered from driving until 4 am, Hannah and Addy spent some quality time with Mimi and their friend Kaylynn.
